Avatars

One of the most-requested features on Cenopets has now been implemented! Users can now choose from a total of 25 basic avatar options to use across the site.

To modify your avatar preference, you must go to the new User Settings page (accessible via the User Panel) and click on the "Communication" subcategory. We hope you enjoy this new feature :D.

Business Creation Area - Update

The form to create a new business has been updated to function more consistently, fit in with the overall look of the website, and clearly explain the required steps one must take when creating a business.

Layout Change

The bar which shows your user information has been given a silver background so it will better match the red navigation bar.

Major BBCode Updates

Cenopets now allows users to embed YouTube videos in all messages and profiles! Likewise, members are also able to place their favorite songs in profiles by embedding the audio content of a YouTube video via BBCode. To do either, just use the codes below (substitute 'oHg5SJYRHA0' for the actual video identifier):

In addition, the long-awaited BBCode Guide is now online in our Reference Desk. Finally, I've made a change in the BBCode processing method which should allow users to compose messages more naturally without affecting the functionality of the tags.

Improved loading time

The forums and maibox should both load significantly faster, due to a recent fix for an XHTML coding calamity dating back to 2007.

Seasonal Giveaway

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete the Seasonal Giveaway code in time, since I was on vacation and one of my connecting flights home was delayed by over a day... Because of this, all users who post in this topic before December 31st will receive:

1. A random amount of currency, ranging between 1 coin and 2 notes.
2. Their choice of a Yule Log, Christmas Tree, or Menorah item.
3. A custom color for one of their pets (please specify both the design and the pet).

Cenopets hopes that you like these presents and that you have an enjoyable winter season!

New Planet

A wintery planet has been found by a team of explorers! As the residents are understandably cautious, due to a sudden influx of tourists, many places have opted to temporarily close their doors until they are more at ease with the idea of visitors. This certainly doesn't mean that there's nothing to do though! Once you've entered the planet's atmosphere, try visiting the closed-down Krelcið Village to find out where you can go from there. Visitors report that there's a field full of loose snow nearby and a few homes may open their doors within the coming days.

While the planet in question isn't listed or visible on the main Cenopets map due to a misty atmosphere, try clicking around the map's empty spaces and see what happens. Rumor has it that the stars in the lower-left corner can help guide travelers as well ;)...

Event Framework Completed

The code for events and giveaways has been completed! This is ultimately a significant step in the development of Cenopets and will allow us to release a few upcoming winter and celebratory activities. In addition, this new development will ultimately enable us to re-release the Falling Fruit Tree giveaway in a far more advanced form.

Mailbox Update

The mailbox has been updated to support BBCode. In addition to this feature, this area of the site now displays the date of each message while users are browsing their inbox. Lastly, a few graphical updates were also made in the form of new icons and a taller page navigation bar at the bottom...

Forum/Mailbox Change

All grey areas in the forum and mailbox areas now have white-shadowed text (on certain browsers). Hopefully, this change will give a fresh, clean look to these two areas.

Marketplace Redesign Finished

Continuing along the same line as yesterday's update, the marketplace has also been redesigned to match the pet center and user panel. Alongside this cosmetic change, this area of the site is now open for unregistered users (in order to better display our available features). As always, we believe the new update will make it easier to find the area you're looking for.

New Error Pages

The error pages, once just a static page with two lines of text, have been updated. Whenever you happen across a broken link, you will be greeted with a quote from Air Roar, a pet who perpetually travels amongst the unexplored realms of Cenopets in search of lost pages. We hope you enjoy these additional touches and also hope that that you seldom have to see them during your journey.
